Brazil Vs. The World!
Femzor is a well-known multimedia artist hailing from Brazil. The multimedia artist sells his art, which you can grab over at the store in his Instagram bio, which we’ll have below. Not only does Femzor create and sell his art, but the Brazilian artist also remakes his favorite album covers and adapts them in a way that almost makes you feel like you’re tripping. He also posts other artwork on his Instagram. His Instagram is his diary. I recently had the opportunity to speak to Femzor about his origins, creative process, artwork, inspirations, and more. Check it out below!
Chandy: Give us an inside look into you! Name, age, where you’re from, and who you are/what you do.
Femzor: My name is Matheus Albuquerque, but I go by Femz/Femzor online. I’m a 21-yea- old Brazilian multimedia artist.
Chandy: Can you talk a bit about the moments that led you to pushing art and being a creative?
Femzor: I’ve always been the kid that draws all over his desk in school, but my family always planned for me to follow a different path. Once I got kicked out of my house and dropped out of university, I didn’t see the point of not pursuing art anymore. From that point on, I’ve just been fully invested in creating.
Chandy: How did you learn to create?
Femzor: Trying different media forms has helped me evolve a lot as an artist. I go from paper to photoshop to singing in the shower. It all adds up to a subconscious knowledge that is worth more than any book.
Chandy: How would you describe your art?
Femzor: As of lately, I’d say honesty is what I try to bring out in each piece, but the output tends to be some sort of futuristic abstraction.
Chandy: A lot of your art is your depiction of album covers from different music artists. How do you decide how to manipulate those covers? Do you just mess around?
Femzor: A lot of it just been me playing with photoshop tools and trying to position everything into the right place. After doing it so many times the ideas just come to my head before I even start the cover.
Chandy: When you’re creating, what’re some things you need around you?
Femzor: Music and coffee.
Chandy: What’s your favorite music to listen to when creating?
Femzor: I listen to it all throughout each piece of work, but I got a special place in my heart for unorthodox emotional music.
Chandy: What inspires you when creating?
Femzor: The fresh memories, whatever things that stuck out that day, and my friends of course.
Chandy: Do you have any favorite creatives you take inspiration from?
Femzor: Way too many to mention any names. I take extra inspiration from painters and photographers even if it’s not my specialty. Traditional art tends to make me feel more, which is very important in my process.
Chandy: Who’s your favorite artist ever?
Femzor: Me and Picasso.
Chandy: What’s your favorite piece you’ve done so far?
Femzor: “She’s so hot, but I’m so cold”. It talks about the relationship between contrasting partners.
Chandy: What’s something you want your fans to know about you that they can’t get from your art?
Femzor: No, I was not on acid.
