Long Island Versus The World!

Combining different sounds together, many listeners cannot tell what genre GothBoiClique's Lil Peep is associated with. Is he emo, rap, or both? Themes of suicide, sex, depression, and drugs fill his songs, while trap influenced drums and reverb-heavy guitar riffs make up the instrumentals. But that's why so many adoring fans are drawn to him- he's a wild card. In an interview with Pitchfork, Peep even compared his music and persona to professional wrestling. "If you're not a fun enough character, then no one's gonna fuck with you because you don't have enough shit that's different."

Lil Peep, born Gustav Åhr is the complete opposite of a cookie cutter rockstar that most teenagers listen to. Crazy hair colors, tattoos from head to toe, and designer garments by the likes of Gosha Rubchinskiy draped all across his body, Lil Peep is unlike anything hip-hop music culture has ever seen. Although Peep is one of the biggest oddballs in the underground scene, he's not afraid of pushing boundaries and turning heads. With 'Crybaby' on the left side of his forehead, to Lisa Simpson on the center of his neck, Peep truly expresses himself in more ways than just his music.

Peep sings, raps, and screams over moody instrumentals that drive his fanbase wild. He has already accumulated over 151,000 followers on his SoundCloud and he just started making music a little over a year ago. His music is reminiscent of Kurt Cobain's self-tortured outlook, a message grunge and alternative fans have came to know and love. Peep would usually write about past lovers or drugs, things many people can relate to. With the success of Peep's projects "crybaby", "castles", and "Hellboy", it's safe to say Lil Peep is the future of this moody emo rap.
